About this Alaska Fishing Charter
- Relatively calm and protected waters surrounding Ketchikan that make this excursion perfect for families of all ages.
- Halibut fishing is excellent May through September and will require a 5-6 hour timeframe to get you to the most productive fishing grounds.
- During the peak of the fishing season, large schools of salmon migrate through the waters surrounding Ketchikan. This provides exceptional fishing in calm waters close to town with little travel time to the fishing grounds.
- On our Combo charter, we generally start out halibut fishing. While bottom fishing for Halibut you also have the chance of catching rock fish, Pacific cod, ling cod, along with various non-target species. Each client holds their own rod and we vertical jig over sandy flats, humps, and drop-offs. We often anchor up on a productive location or drift over a targeted area. If we reach our limit or when time permits we can switch over and Salmon fish or vice versa. We target salmon while trolling using downriggers. Generally, we run no more than four rods. When the bite is hot it’s hard to keep two lines in the water! This method allows us to cover the fishing grounds efficiently and locate salmon at various depths using different presentations.

Make sure your license is printed out and brought with you on the day of your charter.
-
We will have the fish processing forms onboard and will go over all of the details with you at the end of the trip. Your guide will facilitate the delivery of your catch to the processor at the end of the trip.
Our clients always want to know the cost on the processing and it’s hard to give exact amounts. The processing and fish box cost are reasonable, it’s the Fed Ex overnight shipping that’s the main cost.
